Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard

"Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard."

I always hear, "[Athlete] is so talented, they can dribble through so many people", or, "[Athlete] is so physically gifted, they are excelling against their peers." Ok, that's great! But what does it matter if they aren't willing to put in the work to sharpen their skills and continue to improve. If they aren't obsessed, they will be stuck like glue, surrounded by the same environment. If they aren't hungry to get better every single day, they will never be more than what they've been given.

Working hard isn't going to practice everyday and go through it like it's routine or clock work. Working hard is putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation where you know you will fail in order to improve! Without failure, we will never expand our knowledge. And without expanding our knowledge, we will never grow as an athlete or person.

We must accept that failure is part of the journey, and that plateauing is so minuscule in the grand scheme of things. Yes it will be an upset, but when looking at the big picture you'll barely notice it. Perhaps you will encounter a more difficult challenge down the road, but that's for another blog..

To wrap this up, when times get tough, do not falter. Do not give up and go back to what you already feels comfortable with, knowing it's a bad habit, simply because it is your safe zone. Instead, hold your head up high, and continue to fight through the adversary. It may take a day, or a week, or a month, etc., but I promise you will end up on top if you keep going.

Do not give up on fighting through the storm knowing theres a rainbow waiting on the other side with a pot-of-gold waiting at the bottom of it.
